    In my last post, I had included some important tips to help you find a profitable affiliate market. However, just as you cannot clap with one hand, you cannot expect to be a successful affiliate marketer unless you have a perfect product to back your profitable market. You need to offer your potential customers with the right products more importantly because, this would ensure that your products are being purchased providing you with an opportunity to earn credits with your commission.

    Finding the right affiliate product is not as difficult as it may seem to some of you. Here I have tried to list some quick tips that can help you choose your product:

    • Your product should be market friendly: By market friendly I mean that, your product should be such that, it should solve the problems of the market. In simpler terms, you need to do a market review to know about the most sought after products by the customers at the same time considering its relevance to your website. I am sure you would not like to offer your customers with products for which their is least or no demand at all.
    • Your merchant should have a good sales conversion: Your share of commission is directly proportional to your merchant’s sales conversion. Unless the merchant has a good sale conversion power, you cannot be benefited. So, you need to take care that the merchant has an effective sales letter to persuade the customers to buy products from his site. Always try to view the sales letter from the customers point to check its potential.
    • See that your merchant provides you with the required affiliate tools: Being an affiliate, this can be extremely helpful for you, as this makes your job a lot easier. Tools like, banners, PPC ads template, graphics, etc, can help you promote your products. You can always modify the tools for a unique promotion.
    • Confirm that the merchant has a good customer support service: You don’t want your customers to return empty handed or complain about a faulty customer support service, as this may effect your own credibility. You just can’t afford to lose your customers at any cost.

    These essentially, are some of the tips I feel are really important for every affiliate marketer to follow.

    If you have gone through some of my earlier posts, then you would be sure to know that, finding a profitable affiliate market is one of the fundamental requirements for anyone planning to start an affiliate program. This is essentially true since, unless you have a proper market, you cannot expect to earn money out of it. However, its not always easy to find the perfect market for your products. So, being an established affiliate marketer myself, I thought I might just provide you with some useful information on how to find the most profitable affiliate market.

    (1)Look up into the article directories: If you have gone through some of the directories, you would know that each of these directories have pre-categorized markets. Each of these categories provide you with an opportunity to identify your markets and the product demand graph, so that you can establish your potential markets.

    (2)Gather information about top selling products: Besides offering information about the potential markets, the directories also offer valuable information about the top selling products. Once you get the demand graph for each of these products, you can decide for sure the most profitable market where you can base your business.

    (3)Browse through the affiliate program network: The affiliate program networks like, Clickbank, are brilliant options for finding potential profitable markets. This holds especially true for the markets containing several different products at the same time. This provides you with an assurance that, the particular market can be considered as a potential base for your business.

    (4)Leaf through the magazines: I guess, besides the above mentioned structured methods of finding an affiliate market, the best possible way is to read through the magazines featuring numerous product advertisements. Through these advertisements, one can get a good idea about the products people are most interested in buying and the markets they prefer for these products.

    These are just some of the ways and means I personally feel, can help you find a profitable affiliate market. Although, I can’t guarantee you on this, one thing I can assure is that, with the help of these techniques you are sure to come up with the best business options.

    My constant interaction with small and big businessman alike, has taught me one thing for sure. If you wish to run a successful business program, you first need to have an understanding of the factors that may cause harm to your business, even before you can decide on how to make your business run successfully. Unless you can identify your follies, you cannot work towards improving on those factors.

    Thus, whenever someone asks for my advice on starting an affiliate program, the first thing I tell them is to have a knowledge of things they strictly need to avoid. So, I thought I might as well share this secret mantra for a successful affiliate program with you. Of the lot many factors that may possibly affect your affiliate business program, there are a few important ones, that are a complete no no for your business. Here I have a list of some of these factors:

    (a)A half-hearted start for your affiliate program: By this I mean that, if you are planning to start an affiliate program with no particular long term aim or strategy for it, then you are just wasting your precious time as well as money. This kind of wrong mindset is not going to take you too far. So, the very first thing you need, is to have a targeted approach towards your affiliate program.

    (b)Choosing irrelevant products to promote: This is another common mistake which most newbies frequently commit. Whenever you decide to choose a product to promote to your customers, take care that the product is not only relevant to your site but also has a considerable demand graph. This will ensure that you get a good sale when you divert your traffic towards the merchants site.

    (c)Choosing an unproductive market: All your other efforts may seem worthless if you do not choose the right market for your affiliate program. An unproductive market is not going to reap you any profit and it would be a complete waste of your efforts and money, because ultimately your targeted traffic is going to come from this market only.

    (d)Inconsistency of efforts: Consistency of actions is one thing that secures the success of your affiliate program. You cannot afford to sit back and relax with merely having a productive market and the right product. Your constant efforts towards improving the productivity of your affiliate program is what will actually earn you desired profits and pave a way for further improvements.

    These are just few of the considerations I think every affiliate programmer, especially the newbies should work upon. My personal experience compels me to tell you that if you can successfully work upon these flaws, then you can consider your work half done.
