From my last post, you must have already got an idea as to how to avoid falling for fraud affiliate programs and affiliate scams. However, before you can prevent yourself from falling for such frauds, you need to know how to identify them.

In this post I have included some warning signals that you may look out for, before you can contract a deal with any affiliate program.

• One of the best ways for checking the credibility and authenticity of any affiliate program, is to read through reviews about the particular program. There are several authority sites that offer reliable reviews, to help you distinguish the genuine affiliate programs from the fraud ones.

• Many a times, such fraud affiliate programs try to portray themselves as work from home jobs. But, friends, don’t forget that traditional affiliate programs never offer a salary. Thus, such programs should immediately ring a warning bell for you.

• Just as legitimate affiliate programs do not propose to offer a salary, they even don’t ask for money for joining their program. In case a program requires you to pay some amount, be sure that they are interested in cashing-in on your money only and not profit from the customers that you bring in.

• If an affiliate program proposes to offer you a profit amount that sounds too good to be true, it is. Remember that, a legitimate affiliate program would never offer you such handsome profits. The sole purpose behind making such an offer is to lure you into agreeing to promote their program.

With these I guess I have included enough warning signs to help you in your quest for genuine and reliable affiliate programs.

With so many people entering into the affiliate world each day, there has been an equally large increase in the the number of affiliate scams and frauds. My personal belief is that, if you are planning to start an affiliate program, you need to be ready to face the risks too. The trick lies in how well you can manage through these risks by avoiding them at the initial stage only.

One wrong step and you would be providing the scammers with a golden opportunity of feasting on your hard earned profits. I’m sure this is not what you would want to do with your money. So, then the best way is to be on a lookout for any red flags in your affiliate marketing program. Some warning factors that are commonly associated with affiliate scams, that can help you identify the fraudulent practitioners are:

• If an affiliate program seems too good or too cheap to be true, then it definitely is.

• Avoid any paid sign-ups.

• Do not believe on vague and oral dealings. If their are no specific terms and conditions, just turn your back on such deals.

• Beware of banners, that try to hook the attention of the users through the exorbitant display of flashy lights or motions.

• If you come across any not-so-popular affiliate programs, check them out before contracting a deal.

With a careful consideration of these warning signs, you can expect to avoid being scammed to a large extent. You may also join some of the authentic affiliate networks like, Clickbooth, Affiliate Fuel and others, who have been successful in screening out most scammers.

Make frequent posts: It is very important that you keep updating your blog with fresh posts. Unless you have anything new to offer to your readers, they are not going to return to your blog.

Make comments on similar blogs: Commenting on other people’s blog is a good practice. This way, you not only make your blog noticed but can also generate some useful backlinks for your own blog.

Join social networking and bookmarking sites: Making use of social networking sites like Facebook or LinkedIn, can help you promote your blog links through inclusion in your profiles. You may also submit your content on social bookmarking sites like, Digg and Delicious.

Join relevant blogs: Another very good option is to join forums that have relevance to your blog and actively participate in the discussions.

Have links to other blogs on your own posts: This proves especially useful in receiving relevant backlinks. If you can include links to other relevant blogs on your own blog posts, then chances are much that you may receive a useful backlink yourself.
